*My Little Trip Around Europe*

Florence/Pisa - 30th May 2006

Reached Florence(Firenze) at ard 10am. It was like cold.. and was drizzling.. but at least it's not heavy rain.. we went to explore florence first before heading to Pisa to see the Leaning tower of Pisa.

We went to some indoor market n saw HUGE rolls n rolls of meat.. n ppl were taking pictures of these rolls of meat.. i dunno why.. but we also took one picture..haha.. bought fruits at the market also..

Then we went to the museum which supposedly houses the statue of 'David' sculpted by Michelangelo.. but it was boring.. as in the exterior of the museum was boring.. didnt even bother to take a picture of it.

Walked on to the Piazza della Signoria and Uffizi museum where there was this small little patio with a lot of sculptures in it... and there was also a replica of 'David'

And we ate Panini! Which is a type of sandwich (Flavour is Herring & Garlic n clove... Herring is a type of fish) Its was kinda salty though.. a lot of business men in business suits were standing there eating at tat roadside store, ordering a glass of red wine with it.. It's quite interesting to see them standing in an alleyway holding a glass of red wine and just eating like that in a suit..hee

Also went to Ponte Vecchio which is this bridge with cute little houses jutting out from the bridge..

We just basically walked around.. then after a while went back to the train station to take a short train ride to Pisa... ok... now i got story to tell..

We reached the train station and just hopped onto the train without buying any tickets, because firstly it is only a short train ride, secondly there were quite a lot of ppl on board, thirdly the train was about to leave, and fourthly we realized that no one checked our tickets for the previous few train rides... (Look at the notes i made on the previous posts) So we just hopped onto the train.

Everything was going smoothly.. next stop suppose to be our stop to get off.. Jiuan dunno went where during that time.. I think she went toilet... She come back, and suddenly said she saw a guy checking tickets in the next cabin and ran off to hide in the toilet. I still like hanging down there.. I went after her, knocked on the toilet door, and asked 'sure or not' then i just went into the toilet with her still a bit blur blur like that...

I saw a guy standing in the next cabin, but wasn't sure was he really checking tickets.. but Jiuan said yes.. so i assumed so..

So we were both stuck in the toilet, and the next stop is our stop.....

We waited there for a while lo.. dunno what to do... THEN... SUDDENLY...

Some guy opened the toilet door and saw me standing inside!!! (He said sorry n closed the door) Apparantly Jiuan didn't lock the door... (The guy didn't see Jiuan though)

We stayed there for a while, thinking of what to do. Then i said i'll go out first since the guy saw me and check what's happening outside..

So i went out, and the guy was standing there waiting to use the toilet... I was desperately thinking of a reason to give that there's another girl inside the toilet.. but he went inside

And Jiuan came out.. n he stunned a bit.. I think he said 'oh!' Then we quickly ran off and grabbed our bags from our seat and alighted at our stop..

So embarassing!!! Imagine 2 asian girls inside a toilet on the train.... I wonder what that guy must be thinking...

Haiz.. so that's the little story about almost getting caught without paying on the train...

Back to the tourist stuff

So we arrived at Pisa, and just went to the Leaning Tower of Pisa and took a whole bunch of stupid photos... at least I took some dumb photos....

Then we wanted to take night shot of it... So we waited.. but guess what.. Got no lights lighting up the tower!!!! So no night shot!!! arghh... we waited for nothing lo

So, we just took a bus to the airport to wait for our flight to Barcelona which is scheduled to fly the next morning.

Now for a very important piece of information.. NEVER EVER TRY TO SLEEP IN GALILEI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IN PISA

Why?

BECAUSE THE AIRPORT CLOSES AT 12AM AT NIGHT!!!!!!!! AND U'LL GET SHOOED OUT & U'LL HAVE TO SLEEP IN THE COLD!!!!

That's what happened to us and some other backpackers.. including 2 americans, 1 australian, 2 scottish ppl i think also..

IT WAS FREEZING COLD OUTSIDE!!!!! CAN'T SLEEP AT ALL!!!

I think it was less than 10 degrees C

Crazy lo.. and i was just wearing a t shirt and a jacket (Not even a windbreaker!) THen when the wind comes blowing.. its super damn cold

We somehow managed to survive outside for around 4 n a half hours..

I got no idea how i survived... but i did...

It was horrible

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE

ARGHHHH!!!!

Stupid Airport!!!


But i guess that's the price you pay for trying to save money n sleeping in the airport..

Anyway, i think we went back inside the airport (FINALLY!! WARMTH) at around 5 or 6am in the morning

Then took our flight to.... BARCELONA!!!!
